Rawlins was born onto a small farm less than one acre in size. His parents till the land each day. When the crops fail, they have nothing. Recent droughts has caused the family to experience famine and hunger. They have not been able to grow enough vegetables to sell in the market. Rawlins has gotten a late start in school due to lack of fees.
