Raphael is one of seven children, raised by his father, who relies on odd jobs to provide for them. They live in a mud hut without electricity or running water, surviving on simple meals of ugali and vegetables. Despite this, Raphael is hopeful for a better future in which he receives an education and breaks the cycle of poverty he was born into.
