Rachel’s father was killed during the war on Mt. Elgon. Her mother was severely injured when armed intruders entered their home. Sadly, several of the children did not survive. Rachel has not fully recovered from the emotional trauma of what she experienced. Education gives Rachel hope for the future and the chance to break the cycle of poverty.
