Naomi lost her mother when she was very young. Her father works as a day laborer but struggles to support the family and care for his children. He is often only able to provide one meal a day, and the family frequently goes to bed hungry. Naomi and her siblings suffer from malnutrition and poor health. Naomi often helps care for her younger siblings. Educaion is Naomi's best hope for a life filled with possibility.
