Meybel has had a difficult life. Her father lis not in her life. Her single mother has no regular job, so her income is inconsistent. Meybel is an only child, and she and her mother share a small two-room cinderblock home with her grandparents. Meybel has only known hardship and hunger, but she dreams of one day finishing school and making a better future for herself.
