Mercy has a painful life story. Her parents separated before she was born, so she does not know her father. Her mother is an alcoholic and attempted to take Mercy's life in an act of violence. Thankfully, a kind neighbor intervened and took her into his family's home. Mercy has lived there ever since. This family relies on odd jobs and subsistence farming to make ends meet, but they struggle to provide for all of Mercy's needs. Mercy does well in school and would like to become a nurse one day.
