Maxwel’s father was killed during the war on Mt. Elgon. His mother was severely injured when armed intruders entered their home. Sadly, several of the children did not survive. Maxwel has recovered physically from the injuries he sustained, but lives with the trauma of what he experienced. Education gives Maxwel hope for the future and the chance to break the cycle of poverty.
