Lucy lost her mother. Her father sells water in the nearby markets. He uses his wages to eat at a restaurant int own, and then he comes home empty-handed. Lucy's uncle saw her health deteriorate and finally took custody of her out of compassion. He is a farmer. His crops are seasonal, so some months he has no income.
