Kingi comes from a hardworking family. His father is a small-scale farmer, but harsh weather often makes it difficult to grow enough food to feed the family or crops to sell. He often works as a day laborer to supplement the family’s income, but the work is unreliable. His mother has also been unable to find steady work. Their limited income makes it difficult to meet the family’s basic needs. Education is Kingi's only hope for a bright future.
