Joshua’s father passed away, leaving his mother to care for the family alone. She later remarried and tragically contracted HIV from her second husband, whom she later divorced. His mother sells produce on the roadside, but due to her illness she is unable to work consistently, making her income unpredictable. She struggles to provide the basic necessities for Joshua and his six siblings. Education is Joshua's best hope for a future filled with possibility.
