Hyphine is living in an unsafe environment. Her family lives in a two-room shanty-house in the Langas slums of Eldoret. The environment has no plumbing system or access to clean water, so they are often sick and not able to afford medical care. Hyphine's parents both seek out odd jobs, but they earn little income to provide basic needs for the family. Sometimes Hyphine and her family miss meals for several days in a row.
