Griffin comes from a very hardworking family. His father works as a day laborer but it is unreliable and competitive. His mother has also been unable to find steady work. The income they get is never enough to pay for their basic needs. There are times when the family has only one meal a day and sometimes goes to bed hungry. Education is Griffin's only hope for a successful future.
