Gift’s life has been filled with hardship. His father passed away from complications related to diabetes. His mother works as a street vendor, but her income is unreliable and often not enough to provide for the family’s basic needs. There are many nights when they have only one meal a day, and sometimes they go to bed hungry. Education is Gift's best hope to break the cycle of poverty.
