Gift's father died in 2015 from HIV/AIDS after being bed-ridden for two years. After his death, Gift's family was rejected by her extended relatives due to stigmatization. All of her father's belongings were confiscated and kept from them. Gift's mother looks for odd jobs in the Nyalenda slums, but work is scarce for her. One day Gift would like to be a teacher.
