Esther has a painful background story. Nobody knows where she originated. She was found wandering around the village pit latrines with no guardians near her. Esther was too young to describe where she came from, and after searching, she was eventually taken in by an "aunt" from the nearby church. This woman is a single parent who struggles as a farmer on a small plot of land. She needs support to meet Esther's basic needs.
