Extreme poverty is all Dixy knows. She lives with her parents in a small farming community. They struggle to afford food and clothing, depending on whether her parents can find work. Dixy has no money for a school uniform or school supplies. Dixy has faced many challenges in her young life, but she dreams of becoming an agricultural engineer and making a better future for herself.
