Cynthia faces many challenges due to her parents’ difficult relationship. Her mother, Ruth, works as a day laborer with an unstable income, while her father, Evans, lost his job as a chef during the COVID-19 pandemic and provides little support. Education is Cynthia’s best chance to break free from the cycle of poverty.
