Christine lost both of her parents when she was very young. She is now being raised by her aunt who also cares for Christine’s sister. Christine has an older sister who recently finished high school but is not yet able to support her younger sisters on her own. Her aunt is a small-scale farmer, but harsh weather conditions often make it difficult to grow enough food to feed the family. She struggles to provide their basic necessities, and there are times when they have only one meal a day or go to bed hungry. Education is Christine'e only hope for a bright future.
