Carren has been orphaned by poverty. Her mother left the family when Carren was only in the first grade. Since then, Carren's family became homeless and Carren has lived with a variety of guardians. Currently she is living with a single foster mother named Lilian who sells vegetables and earns only $1 per day or less. The family is truly struggling to meet Carren's basic needs.
