Brillian doesn't have a place to call home. With no land to settle on and no money for rent, her single mother depends on the mercy of a Good Samaritan for shelter. There are many days when food runs out, and Brillian and her siblings endure hunger for days at times. Often, she cannot go to school, staying home not because she doesn't want to learn, but because there is no food to give her strength. The cycle of hunger steals both her health and her education.
