After Mike and his twin sister was born, his father abandoned the family. Mike's mother has no job or learned trade. She struggles to provide basic needs for this family. They often rely on the compassion of neighbors for their only food and clothes. Mike's family lives in a small, rented house in the Langas slums of Eldoret. There is no running water or electricity.
