Joseph is the last-born in his family of nine people. His father died when Joseph was only a baby. Joseph's single mother washes clothes for neighbors and earns only a few dollars per month. No extended relatives are willing to help the family in their poverty, so they typically eat only one meal per day. Joseph has gotten a late start in school due to lack of fees. He needs a helping hand.
