Domestic violence and alcoholism have been big problems in Cassy's family. After her parents divorced, her father remarried and would not support his children from the previous marriage. Cassy's mother is addicted to alcohol. Because of this, she does not maintain a job and does not even provide regular food for Cassy and her brother. They are living in a hard situation.
